For over 30 years, the Mobile County Wildlife and Conservation Association (MCWCA) has championed wildlife conservation through its flagship initiative: The Wood Duck Box Project. Focused on enhancing nesting habitats and fostering a deeper understanding of conservation principles, this program has become a model for hands-on environmental stewardship in Mobile County. What began as a volunteer project for water fowl hunters, quickly expanded to volunteers of all ages.

In 2025, the Mobile County Wildlife and Conservation Association (MCWCA) proudly partnered with the City of Mobile Parks and Recreation to launch the Tricentennial Park/Day Lake Fish Stocking Program—a community-driven initiative designed to enrich local fishing experiences and inspire environmental stewardship.

From Roads to Reefs, Derelict Crab Trap Removal, to our hands-on Flounder Tagging Program, many of the Mobile County Wildlife and Conservation Association’s initiatives are deeply rooted in the waters of Mobile Bay and its surrounding watershed. These projects not only protect our coastal ecosystem—they also celebrate our community’s love for fishing.

In Fall 2024, the Mobile County Wildlife and Conservation Association (MCWCA) launched a new initiative aimed at improving accessibility and enhancing the outdoor experience for hunters across Alabama’s Wildlife Management Areas (WMAs).
